Directions
- Fabric Selection: Inktek LB Plastisol Inks are recommended for printing on medium and dark-colored fabrics made of polyester or cotton/polyester blends. If printing on 100% polyester, we highly recommend using a dye blocker underbase to prevent dye migration and ensure the integrity of your prints.
- Screen Mesh Selection: Use a screen mesh with a monofilament count ranging from 40 to 125 for maximum coverage. Finer, higher mesh screens may be employed when delicate results are desired or if your design has fine details.
- Fusion/Bleed Resistance: Preheat your curing equipment to a minimum of 260°F. Plastisol fusion is a time-temperature process, and curing at 260°F for approximately a minute and a half can provide the best results. This lower temperature helps minimize bleed-through. For flash curing, LB series inks may be flashed at temperatures of 220°F for the recommended time to achieve partial curing before completing the curing process in a conventional oven.
- Mixing with Clear Bases: LB series plastisol inks are designed for maximum opacity when printing on black or dark-colored fabrics. However, they can be mixed with SE014 Process Clear when printing on white or light-colored fabrics. Note that mixing with a clear base will lower opacity, reduce bleed resistance, and soften the print feel.
- Reducers: Inktek LB series plastisol inks come ready to use and do not typically require the addition of reducers. If viscosity reduction is necessary, you can add up to 5% of Special Reducer. Keep in mind that all reducers will alter opacity, bleed resistance, and cure. It’s essential to pretest when adding any products to the prepackaged ink.
- Clean Up: For clean-up purposes, use mineral spirits or a similar solvent. Ensure proper ventilation and follow safety guidelines when handling solvents.
By following these updated instructions, you can achieve exceptional results when using Inktek LB Plastisol Inks for printing t-shirts. These inks are designed to offer maximum bleed resistance on dark polyester or polyester blends while maintaining consistency and quality throughout your printing process.
Always perform a test run before production. Inktek is not liable for garment issues if the fusion process fails. It’s the printer’s responsibility to test and verify curing and adhesion.
